Professional Rugby League Match Officials Incorporated (PRLMO) represents the elite men and women who officiate in the world’s premier Rugby League competition.

Our MEMBERS

The Constitution of Professional Rugby League Match Officials Incorporated (PRLMO) is underpinned by the key concept that we were created by our members, for our members. The organisation is comprised of two levels of membership, being current active officials in the National Rugby League (and associated elite competitions), and Associate members, who may be retired elite officials, or simply other members of the sporting community who support the cause and activities of the PRLMO.

Unlike many similar organisations in this field, we are unique in that only the current active members who officiate in elite competitions hold a vote when it comes to the organisational agenda, or matters that require deliberation. Associate members, including those on the Board, do not hold a vote in such matters. This ensures that the direction the PRLMO takes is dictated purely by the democratic consensus of its membership, who will ultimately be most impacted by the result. It also protects the organisation from outside influence, meaning every decision made is in the best interest of the group as a whole. This goes back to the reason the PRLMO was created in the first place, to ensure members have a vehicle through which they can think, speak and act collectively.

The Constitution of the PRLMO is underpinned by the key concept that we were created by our members, for our members.

The PRLMO currently represents over 90% of the men and women officiating in the National Rugby League and is responsible for ensuring the professional and industrial interests of this group remain a key consideration in the decision-making of key stakeholders within the Game. The PRLMO is able to offer members legal and industrial support and guidance and provides representation in pay negotiations, performance management reviews and conflict resolution proceedings. We also work closely with similar organisations from a variety of professional sports in Australia to ensure we are educated on how other sporting bodies do things and how our members can remain at the forefront of the industry.

The PRLMO is dedicated to ensuring that match officials are treated with respect and dignity across our Game, and that the importance of their role within the Game receives the appreciation it deserves. This was highlighted during the negotiations that took place between the PRLMO and the NRL at the beginning of the 2019 season, which saw a landmark four-year deal locked in that significantly improved the working conditions of elite match officials who work in both a full time and part time capacity.
